I said, consistency not competency. Lets be sure to get the words correct. Too often, we get them confused.
I am possibly the most consistent person on this Great Planet Earth at being inconsistent. Perhaps that is my consistency? How about you?
Perhaps I am also quite competent at being inconsistent. Will anyone remember me when I am no longer here? Those who love me will. The question is this? Is that enough? For some of us this is enough. Some days this is enough for me, other days the feelings of wanting to leave something behind plague my mind. Why? It is that inconsistency thing that I am so very competent with.
For the free spirits on this planet, this thing of being consistent just does not set well. We rage internally and fight against conformation. Simply put, we are quite competent and consistently fighting any bonds put upon us. This includes bonds we place upon ourselves.
See, the people who build vast empires or large companies or even the Mom and Pop store down the street have one thing in common. They are consistently committed to their business. They have dedicated themselves to a choice in something they want to do or bring to life. These people simply focus all of their attention onto whatever endeavor they wish to create. Then they consistently apply attention there and only in that direction.
The people who succeed financially or artistically are not Free Spirits. We think of them as being such due to the (often) end result of success but if we break it down to its smallest component, they are not Free Spirits regardless of the focus of their attention. They have fully committed themselves to the business. Every action, every drama, every ounce of themselves is focused on their achievement, what they wish to see as an end result.
To be focused enough to succeed in any craft requires consistency and commitment which brings about, naturally, competency.
To date I am only truly competent at being inconsistent. Be assured though, I am very competent with this way of being. Are Free Spirits successful? I think so, only in a non monetary type of way.
Whatever you decide to do, do it with all of your heart and soul. Do that thing that brings passion, joy and life into your every day. For Free Spirits this can be millions of different things (often a couple hundred each day). Just remember that even those of us who are Free Spirits can have one MAIN thing that brings us joy and happiness. We just have to work it into the mix of the thousands of other things that catch our eye.
The problem with Free Spirits is that distraction thing. The world is so full of amazing things to focus on each day. A Free Spirit is the one that will drop everything when a friend is having a bad day to just sit and talk. A person focused on a business will not do this simply because their minds are not free to do so. Oh they might take a few minutes out of their busy day but then they will go back to being consistent with their business. Simply they have priorities.
Perhaps Free Spirits have a less rigid priorities? It could be that Free Spirits simply have more priorities than those successful people. Maybe in the end, we will have hundreds or thousands of successes just in such an understated way that only those we touch will even know about them?
Simply to be successful at any one thing, we must be consistent. To be successful at many things the Free Spirits rule the day.
Just wish there was more money in being a Free Spirit.
